Our History

Interbake Limited has been established since 1989 and continues to offer a comprehensive range of quality, practical equipment that has been carefully sourced.

Our experience ensures that the right piece of equipment is recommended to do the specific task for which it is employed. This experience has been gained through not only listening to our customers requirements, but also having practical experience in both using and selling the range of equipment we provide.

How it started

Leaving school aged 15 and then completing a 3 year full time course at Bolton Technical College, encompassing City & Guilds qualifications for both baking and catering, David Dunne, Interbake's Sales Director, started his working career with a prominent baking company as a technician and test baker.  During this period he worked at a craft bakery to gain practical experience but unfortunately suffered a bout of dermatitis that led to a career changing decision. After visiting a doctor who advised him that he should quit baking he was compelled to look for work but felt that he wished to use the bakery skills, that he had acquired to have an association with his future employment.

Upon seeing a job advertised in a bakery magazine he applied for the position of sales representative selling bakery and food processing machinery. His sales career began in 1970 for a renowned manufacturer of bakery machinery based in Bolton.  19 years later, and with a lot of encouragement and support from his wife Theresa, he decided to form his own business as he realised opportunities to sell a more fashionable expansive range of products by focussing primarily on the baking and butchery industries.

The company started to trade as Northern Bakery Services in March 1989 and at the time this name sounded appropriate.

In 1991 a South African oven manufacturing company based in Capetown approached Northern Bakery Services with an interest in collaborating to sell and promote their range of ovens. The Director of Macadams, Mr. Raymond Pouliart, suggested to David that the name Northern Bakery Services was probably restricting sales as it seemed to suggest that the company sold equipment only in the north of the country.

To import goods into the UK Mr. Pouliart had created a limited company in the name of Interbake and as a gesture of goodwill he offered this limited company name to David.  As a result of this, on the 1st May 1992 our company name changed from Northern Bakery Services Limited to Interbake Limited and our good relationship with Macadams has continued up to the present day.

Interbake supply a comprehensive range of carefully sourced equipment that is backed up by after sales and technical support. Our experience ensures customers complete satisfaction due to our ethics of quality, value and service.
